"Bail Fund Promoted By Kamala Harris Helped Man Accused Of Sexually Penetrating A Child"
If you look past the silly partisan headline, there are some truly shocking moments in here.
Timothy Wayne Columbus, 36, faces up to 30 years in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl in 2015, court records show. He was released from a Minneapolis jail in early July on $75,000 bail, according to jail records.
There was a totally schizo moral panic in the first few weeks of June, with everyone donating to the Minnesota Freedom Fund without thinking of what those donations would be used for.
Here's another rapist:
Fox9 reported in August that the group paid $350,000 in cash to release twice-convicted rapist Christopher Boswell from jail. Boswell currently faces charges of kidnapping and sexual assault, according to the outlet.
How many people will even find out that this is what their money went to?
The group revealed in early September that only about 6% of the $3,475,000 it has spent since Floyd’s death had gone to help bail out of jail people facing protest-related charges.
And how many of the people who do find out that this is what their money went to, will even care when they find out?

"The best way to exercise self-control is not to exercise it at all"
I've been saying this for a while. There's a quote from this article that I really like.
Research in my own lab and others suggests that, if you want to improve your self-control, what you should do instead is focus on proactively reducing, rather than reactively overpowering temptation. Fortunately, there are several ways and opportunities to do this.
I often tell people "I have no willpower at all," and they say "what do you mean? You don't drink, smoke, eat gluten, sugar," etc, etc. And I have to explain that if I put myself in a position to do these things, I would be terribly tempted and constantly indulging myself. And that the trick to avoiding these things is to avoid them.
Here's another quote:
Take the findings from a 2017 study that involved volunteers recording their daily experiences of temptation for a week. The individuals who experienced more temptation were less likely to achieve their long-term goals, even if they also reported using more inhibitory self-control. This suggests that using inhibitory self-control to resist those cookies might help you in the moment, but not in the long run.
The Althea Bernstein Hoax
This is pretty clearly another fake hate crime.
Seven weeks after a biracial woman told police she had been sprayed with lighter fluid by a group of white men and then set on fire, police and the woman’s family say the investigation into the incident continues.
Does anyone think we'll ever find these white men who looked like "frat boys"?
I wouldn't bet on it.
